About Us

for fun, fitness and training

We are a group of paddlers who do a time trial every Wednesday night for Fun, Fitness and Training. We are an established kayaking club affiliated to the NSW Canoeing Inc. We hold a time trial is held every Wednesday night on the Lane Cove River, starting at staggered times after 6.30pm in all sorts of weather conditions.

Most of us paddle 12km, but you can also be timed 6km. It's a great way to see if your times are improving over distance and if your fitness level is increasing.

We start out from the pontoon at Mowbray Park (also known as the Chatswood War Memorial Athletic Field) which is at the junction of Mowbray Road and Epping Road, Lane Cove North, at the commencement of the M2 Motorway. Once a month, usually the second Wednesday of the month, we have a BBQ after the paddle.

Paddlers attending the time trial for the first time are invited to gain temporary membership for the night at a cost of $6. This entitles you to do the time trial.

You need to have a suitable kayak to paddle and, when it is dark, wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) and have clear lights front and back of your boat.

The club also runs a regular program of social paddles which explore the waterways around Sydney. These are events are not time trials. Families and friends of members often join the social paddles which are go at a pace which suits everybody.
